LondonEdge wrapped up its landmark 30th show last week and the A/W'14 event was met with more success and praise than ever before, validating just why LondonEdge is one of the longest serving fashion trade-shows in the country. Exhibitors from all over the globe came together to showcase their unique lifestyle collections to industry heavyweights, buyers and press from 5 different continents. Moving from the usual West London spot of Olympia Hall, this season saw LondonEdge settle in to an incredible new venue, the Business Design Centre in Islington. Surrounded by the trendy area of Angel, the change was met with nothing but praise and excitement from exhibitors, buyers and visitors alike.
This season saw a range of exciting new additions to the show, most notably the first ever LondonEdge bloggers meet-up, sponsored by one of Europe's most cutting edge editorial fashion magazine's Fizzy Mag. The meet-up played host to 30 of the most trendsetting, diverse & fresh new fashion bloggers from the UK and beyond. Welcomed by a glass of prosecco and a LondonEdge themed cupcake reception, courtesy of meet-up sponsors, the creative cake duo The Tattooed Bakers, the bloggers were presented with a jaw-dropping goodie bag overspilling with treats from an array of exhibitors. Following a meet and greet and mingle between themselves, the blogging elite enjoyed a brief talk on the history of LondonEdge by show director Carole Hunter, followed by a personalised tour and a chance to absorb the atmosphere, see the catwalk shows and connect directly with brands and designers for future collaborations. With more selfies, tweets and shout-outs than most would know what to do with, the bloggers meet-up went down as one of the most talked about events LondonEdge has ever seen.
Fifteen years and thirty shows is obviously a worthy cause for celebration and in true LondonEdge style, this years after-party was taken to crazy new heights. The lifestyle fashion elite were invited to Proud Galleries in the trendsetting and world-renowned alternative fashion capital, Camden Town. With two huge rooms boasting everyone from international models behind the DJ decks to the Drag Queen of London "Meth" fierce lip-synch performance, the queue was making its way through the market before doors were even open. Party sponsors Collectif provided the best dressed crowd the venue had ever seen, with their amazing 100 dresses, 100 girls event which saw a hundred lucky ladies done up to the nines in Collectif dresses and provided with exclusive VIP treatment to the invite-only event.
The night saw journalist & alt-party compere extraordinaire Alix Fox host a stellar line up including international male model Ricki Hall and the UK's hottest fashion blogger Zoe LDN spinning behind the decks, incredible burlesque & retro girl band performances from Slinky Sparkles & The Tootsie Rollers and a bit of fire for good measure from one of the most in-demand alt. model in the UK, Dani Divine. Fifteen years meant it was time to go big and not only did the venue and performances reflect such a momentous occasion, but the evening saw more models, musicians and fashion heavyweights through the door than any Sunday we can remember. It was truly an unforgettable night, dubbed "the best LondonEdge party in history" by some of the revellers.
With that we begin to look forward to the next LondonEdge which takes place on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd of February at the West Hall, Olympia, and will return to the BDC for the following season.
