For the September LondonEdge we put together two photoshoots featuring some of the brands that will be showing with us next season. For both these fashion editorials, featured online and in the LondonEdge magazine, we worked with a team of hair, make up, stylists and photographer Haris Nukem.
Haris’s style is super gritty and full of contrast and attitude, and it was great fun working with him on creating these two photo shoots, with their different themes and styles. One shoot was based around an East London retro style, full of heavy denim and matching prints, and red and gold accessories. The other shoot was a dark studio shoot, clashing grungey, gothic styles with contemporary styling. Haris’s photo projects are often racy, often dark and moody, but always powerful. We wanted to bring some of that raw edge to our photoshoots, and we love the results! The full editorial shoots will be online soon, and featured in the LondonEdge Magazine.
Haris has worked for a many fashion publications and brands – such as the much-loved Disturbia lookbook for SS15, and also creates emotive personal projects. He recently completed a personal body of work called the ‘Breathe Project’. This collection of photos investigates the emotions attached to anxiety, and features portraits of people in a vulnerable state – undressed with their breathing restricted by bags. The resulting pictures, especially displayed in a group, as they are on his website, are powerful and beautiful, and aim to give a very real insight into the struggle and the vulnerability of dealing with mental health issues. Check them out here, and more of Haris’s work here. http://www.harisnukem.com/
