WEDNESDAY 8TH AND THURSDAY 9TH JULY 2015
Positioned perfectly in central Berlin at the unusual Adagio venue, the very first Edge Berlin took place in July 2014 to a thunderous welcome. Adagio is in the heart of the city at Marlene-Dietrich-Platz 1 and is one of the most popular nightlife hot spots in Berlin. Just minutes from the world famous Kurfürstendamm with countless shops, restaurants, bars & hotels and the centre of West Berlin making LondonEdge Berlin both accessible and focal.
Between tropical lightening storms, torrential downpours and blazing summer sunshine the launch show was every bit the success we hoped it would be. Showcasing 50+ collections provided LondonEdge buyers & exhibitors an ideal platform during Berlin’s Fashion Week & businesses from all over the world took the time to visit.
With representatives from 16 countries Edge Berlin maintained the strong international tradition of the London ‘mother-ship.’ Unsurprisingly German buyers topped the attendance chart with retailers showing up from towns & cities across the country such as Hannover, Bonn, Essen, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Neuss, Hamburg, Frankfurt and, of course, Berlin.
The many other countries attracted by the shows international reputation included Belarus, Spain, France, Austria, Holland, Finland, Turkey, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, UK, USA, Czech Republic, Poland & Canada. Courtesy of One Direction Clothing & the Organisers, both buyers & exhibitors were treated to complimentary drinks and great entertainment from contortionist Samira, Hula Hoop expert Rebecca, Rock Juggler Henry and DJ-extraordinaire Marcus.
Although just a glimmer of the main London event, along with 35 of our key exhibitors, we took a leap of faith across the channel to launch our very first European satellite show and enjoyed a hugely positive experience from start to finish.
Our intention was to attract buyers who did not visit London and, in doing so, deliver entirely new business to our exhibiting contingent. Not only did we almost double the expected attendance but, of the buyers who attended, approximately 75% had never visited us in London. We’re delighted to say that as 2014 was a mission accomplished, we’re looking forward to 2015.
